scott james Fall/Winter 2012/13 Merges Neapolitan Inspiration with
Utilitarian Ease
The Fall/Winter 2012 collection of scott james focuses on the evolution of its
Ameripean aesthetic. Combining the rustic inspirations of Tuscany with the
cosmopolitan vibe of New York City, the collection offers a freedom of style, from
easy, yet lush fabrics, to sophisticated Neapolitan detailing.
The philosophy behind this season is luxury at an attainable price point.
Rich merino wools, cottons and moleskins that are easy to the touch are
prominent in every piece, from outerwear jackets, to blazers and pants, all the
way down to the newly added shoes and socks.
Deconstructed outerwear pieces aim to be both functional and practical. Jackets
made from sport coat fabrics are warm, yet lightweight and tech fiber jackets in
nylon offer wind resistance without adding bulk.
Sweaters and knits can be skillfully mixed with tailored blazers and unique
garment-dyed corduroy vests in up to 15 colors. A sophisticated mercerized
merino yarn reflects the feel of cashmere in v-necks, zips and cardigans, giving a
feel of elegance that does not come with a luxury price tag.
New styles of pants in a variety of fabrics are being introduced for the Fall/Winter
2012 season. While classic flat front dress pants and denims are still present, the
five-pocket pant model is being reintroduced in non-denim fabrics. Corduroys,
wool flannel and moleskin offer an easy juxtaposition of casual and dressy. Slim
fitting cargos provide utilitarian luxury as they maintain sleek style.
Adding to the evolution of this season is the introduction of scott james
accessories. The thoughtful details and pops of color, symbolic of the scott james
label, are now present in scarves, belts, socks and shoes, truly allowing a man to
create a total look.
Three color schemes provide the final touch to the scott james collection, by
utilizing base-colors and infusing them with pop colors, to achieve a true
Ameripean style. Pearl greys infused with reds and camels and navy blended with
blue-green and citrus lime make up a darker dressier aesthetic, while browns
mixed with oranges and purples offer the warmth of autumn. Once the fabrics are
dyed with this diverse color palette, they undergo a special wash that is
individually tested for each composition, leaving a rich finish.
“The key to a great wardrobe is layer-ability. Fall/ Winter is the perfect season to
experiment and find pieces that fit together to reflect your own personal style,”
says Scott Kuhlman, Founder and Designer of scott james.
