Italian Winery Gives Talented Designers Chance to Show at New York Fall Fashion Week

Today, the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation announces the kick-off of its 11th annual season, giving designers across the country the chance to join the ranks of some of fashion’s biggest names. Since 2001, Ecco Domani Wines of Italy has helped to launch the careers of over sixty renowned designers including Zac Posen, Proenza Schouler, Derek Lam, Rodarte, Erin Fetherston, and Alexander Wang. This year, a new class of seven talented emerging designers will be selected to each receive a $25,000 grant to showcase their collections during New York’s Fall 2012 Fashion Week.

“Ecco Domani has always celebrated innovation and unique style when it comes to our wine. Through this program, we are proud to support those designers who are bringing this same level of creativity to the fashion industry,” says Molly Davis, Marketing Director for Ecco Domani Wines of Italy. “We are proud to continue our commitment and are excited to help identify the next generation of fashion superstars.”

“Being selected as an Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation winner last year not only gave me a sense of validation and appreciation of my work, but it also gave me the means to further my craft to a level that I had always wished to reach,” says Bibhu Mohapatra, 2011 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation award recipient for womenswear. “Ecco Domani has helped create a community of talented designers through the Fashion Foundation and I look forward to meeting the next class.”

In 2012, seven designers (four womenswear, one menswear, one accessories and one sustainable design) will be selected and given the opportunity to present their work on fashion’s biggest stage – New York Fall Fashion Week.
