Diesel Black Gold opens contemporary showcase in New York City’s Soho district
Diesel Black Gold, open a boutique at 68 Greene Street in New York City’s Soho district on February 14th, 2012.
To bring the brand’s signature rock-chic aesthetic to life, Diesel Black Gold tapped acclaimed New York-based interior designer Ryan Korban. Like the clothes themselves, the use of fine fabrics and finishes in the space evokes the ultimate in self-assured sophistication and downtown luxury.
The 2,500 square foot space will be the first and only retail location to showcase the Diesel Black Gold Men’s and Women’s collections exclusively. The loft-like interior features 15-foot ceilings lined in gunmetal velvet to create instant drama, and opens into a main gallery which will house a rotation of exclusive product, displayed against zebra wood and an imposing, custom-made leather screen. The sales floor is anchored by two massive aluminum monoliths for a sculptural effect, as well as for a unique play on modernity and heritage.
Clothing is installed in suede-lined niches, beyond which customers can experience the full accessories range in elegant, artistic display. Wall-to wall dove gray carpet enhances the sense of comfort and luxurious intimacy.
Renzo Rosso, Diesel president and founder comments, “Diesel Black Gold has grown to be such a success in its own right, we felt it was time to give it its own showcase – a place where the customer could fully experience the brand’s most special attributes and values. Ryan was the ideal choice for this project because of how well he understands our identity, and the always exciting take he has on both conventional and unconventional codes of decorating.”
Ryan Korban adds, “The design of the boutique is born of the
Diesel Black Gold DNA – premium fabrics and daring yet refined shapes and lines. It’s a warm, vintage-inspired environment, a reinterpretation of luxury for a modern generation.”
