Alice Ritter Fall / Winter 2011 – Presentation, Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week February 2011. The collection is so French chick. we loved the European feel from the great Alice Ritter.

Heavily inspired by the French 70’s bohemian chic tribe, the Fw11 collection aims to capture the free spirit and lightness of early Sonia Rykiel, Dorothe Bis or Kenzo. French fashion has always been infused with folk’s influences from North Africa to Eastern Europe, hence the Ikat, flower prints and cut out embroidery and quilted yoked. The 70’s boheme can be traced in the colors a well: burgundy, raspberry pink, rust, bright red, dark purple, tan…

Each dress could have walked the street of Paris rive gauche, in a Truffaut’s movie like ” love on the run” or vacationed in a Majorelle’s Garden.

Indian dresses and tops in washed printed cottons are balanced with masculine fabrics like corduroy, leather and tweed.

The Fw11 has a quirky point a view with strong prints and embroideries and a definite statement about women’s clothes.

Below the knee skirts and dresses, high waisted pants are classic but very actual ways to show femininity.

Pleated dresses in silk georgette paired with leather pants also have a modern resonance.

The clothes are meant to be worn with ease and aim to survive trends.

To keep in line with the fall winter story, this season is the first AR collaboration with the talented shoe designer Barbara Briones.

Inspired by the memories of their mom’s stylish 70’s boots, they came up with a burgundy classic below the knee boots with wood heels and a pair of cloak sandals to be wore with wool stockings to complete the assortment.

The collection evokes soft David Hamilton’s pictures or Emmanuelle, the classic French erotic movie of the 70’s.

The FW11 presentation is inspired by the latest, especially the iconic image of Sylvia Kristel lustfully seated, half naked, on a fan rattan chair.

The feminine playfulness of the collection is also found in the Hair and make up inspirations.

The hair are tight up in a falsely negligé pony tail, as if she’d just waken up and hurrying would tight them up before leaving home.

Kristel has a translucent, pale skin enhanced by lightly blushed cheeks. This is the inspiration for make up: clear skin, pinky, blushed cheeks and pale lips.

Only the eyes are stronger, but not quite smoked.

Hair and make up are soft and feminine and evoke a suggestive innocence.
